Weigh Day

I am loving this whole Diet Bet thing.  Having this little ticker to show my progress is really motivating:
And I also love that 4% of your body weight isn't an impossible feat.  Small wins lead to huge victories, am I right?!?!!

My weigh-in this morning was a flat 214.  A loss of 2.4lbs this week.  Woot woot!!

Friday Weigh-In

I really wish I had sucked it up and posted my weight at the beginning of the week.  I HATE logging gains.  Last Saturday morning, my Spring Break gain was like 1.4lbs.  But then, my body went crazy and I gained like 3-4 more lbs by Tuesday morning- I was horrified and didn't even take proper note of the number for myself.  I am blaming water retention and constipation.

Today, I weighed in at 216.4.  Officially up 2lbs from my weigh-in two weeks ago.  And down .4lbs from my official Dietbet weigh-in yesterday.  Do you read Skinnymeg?  I love her!  She is hosting her first Dietbet here.  It officially started yesterday, but you still have some time to sign up if you would like to join.

My official weigh-in photos:

And just for fun, a mirror selfie before dinner last night. Please excuse the quality of the pic and the ring from my magnifying mirror on my big mirror.  Keepin' it real.

Back to the Grind

Spring Break is over.  Sigh....

I didn't go completely buck wild (a little buck wild) over the break, but I didn't track everything either.  I did zero working out.

I didn't post the Friday before SB because I just didn't have time, but I weighed in at 214.4.  I know that I gained a tiny bit back, but I am going to officially weigh in again this Friday.

My eating plan for now is just going to be counting calories.  The hubs is in town, so I will be cooking for my little family and we have a pantry full of food that needs to be eaten.

And how sweet is this face?

Low-Carb Buffalo Chicken

I love me some wings- actually "boneless" wings because eating off of the bone is far too messy.  I have been craving wings, so I decided I needed to come up with a homemade alternative.  I was so happy with how they turned out, that I thought I should share the wealth.

4 Chicken Tenders, cut into thirds.
1 TBSP Butter
1 TSP Ranch Dressing Mix
Buffalo Sauce

Melt the butter on medium heat.  Add in ranch seasoning and mix well.  Add chicken tender pieces and stir to coat well in butter mixture.  Brown on each side until chicken is fully cooked.  While chicken is cooking, heat desired amount of Buffalo sauce for a few seconds in the microwave.  Put cooked chicken in a bowl.  Add Buffalo sauce and toss to coat.  Serve with Blue Cheese or Ranch dressing for dipping.

Note: I was cooking for one.  You may want to double this if you are cooking more.  Also, be sure to check carb content of Buffalo sauce and your dipping sauce of choice.

Friday Weigh-In

I weighed in this morning...

217.2
Down 2lbs!!

I feel like it could have been more had I not eaten the taco and tortilla chips on Sunday.  I have read that eating high carb while you are low-carbing is a bad idea.  I believe it now.

I have been rocking right a long with T25.  My friend Jana decided to do it with me and agreed to share her before pics on this blog.  We will be checking in with our progress.  We have another friend who may be sharing also if she has time in her crazy schedule (for real, I don't know how she does it!).  We agreed to just doing what we were comfortable with.  We also agreed that as mommies with busy schedules, we would make the plan fit into our lives instead of fitting the plan.

Jana is my running buddy and neighbor.  My fellow boy mom.  And now, my fellow T25-er.
Her staring weight is 160.

I am going to use my last weigh-in for my starting weight- 219.2.  I also took measurements.

Waist  43.75
Chest 40.5
Both Arms 14
Both Thighs 28.75
Neck 13.75

Weekend Recap

Typically, when I am eating a special way (I don't want to say 'diet'.), I am really bad on the weekends.  I say to myself crap like, "I have been good all week, this taqutio from Whataburger is no biggie."  Which wouldn't be so bad except that it usually spills over to every single meal.

I had a pretty successful low-carb weekend!  I stuck to it completely Friday and Saturday.
Sunday, we went to the Ft. Worth Zoo for a little family time.  I brought a Questbar, so while T was snacking on gold fish and fruit snacks, I ate that.  Obviously, we walked almost the whole two hours we were there- and T pretty much wanted to be carried the whole time.  Andy and I would switch out, so I packed my 30lb toddler around at least half of the time.  When we left, we were hungry for some lunch.  When we spotted Torchy's Tacos, a place I have been dying to try- I didn't feel bad about allowing myself to indulge just a little.  I ate one taco, the Trailer Park.  It was AMAZING- it had a piece of fried chicken, queso, pico and cheese on it.  I also had some chips and queso- probably some of the best queso I have ever had.  When we went to dinner at my parents' house, I was right back on the wagon.  My dad made his amazing beans and potato salad, and I didn't have a single bite.  I had grilled sausage and pickles for dinner.  AND my mom made BROWNIES- I enjoyed a spoonful of peanut butter instead.

T's favorite thing at the zoo was the Primate House.  They had a little monkey nursery, and one of the parent monkeys was playing with a younger monkey by pretending to eat it's toes.  I told T, "Look, he is eating his toe cheese!"  That was the first exhibit we looked at, and T asked to go back the rest of the time we were there.  He kept saying things like, "I want to go back to the monkey house.  They eat toe cheese.  It's so gwoss!"  He also kind of fell in love with the gorillas.  We bought him a baby gorilla in the gift shop.  I keep asking him what the gorilla's name is, and he keeps informing me that it is "Gorilla."  :) When we got home, I gave him an old cabbage patch baby bottle I had laying around (intending to put back with the Cabbage Patch from my childhood I still have somewhere...).  So he has been feeding his baby gorilla chocolate milk.

That kid has such a precious heart- just like his daddy.  I love that he loves the zoo, just like me.  We have taken him a couple of times before, but this is the first time that he really 'got' it.  It was such a great day!!

I'm still loving the low carb for the most part.  I was a little disappointed that I couldn't have a Starbucks Cool Lime Refresher yesterday, but that passed.  I'll have to figure out a home made alternative to get my fix.

Oh!  I made cauliflower pizza last night.  Miracle of miracles- Andy actually liked it!!

Until next time ;)

Swoon...

We had family pictures taken recently, and my boys are so handsome I just had to share.

These were taken by the super talented Kendra Wallace- you can find her info here.
I cannot say enough about how professional she is and how much she always puts me at ease.  T was being really uncooperative that day, but she still managed to get some amazing pictures that I think capture his little personality.  Kendra also took my boudoir shots that I LOVE but will not be sharing on here.

It was really hard to pick a few favorites- or fravorites, as T would say.

LC Day 3

It's Day 3 of eating low-carb.

I am NOT hating it.

Before, when I was just eating low calorie, I had a hard time staying in my range.  Now that I am watching carbs, I am not eating near the calories that I planned to.  I have my MFP "goal" set to 1790/day but I have been averaging about 1200.  I feel like 1200 is kind of low, but since I'm not feeling hungry or sluggish, I'm not going to worry about it.

I have had mucho assignments this week and a test tomorrow (eeek.), so I really haven't had time to work out.  I will be starting T25 hardcore next week.  My sista, Sydney, also in college but with 2 small children, texted me last night that we should totes do it together.  So we are! BAM!

I haven't struggled with feeling hungry or deprived AT ALL.  I think knowing I can still have a burger (sans bun) is a big part of that.

I have had a couple of sweet cravings- like just now I got something out of my desk drawer and noticed the bag of Valentine's Day candy one of my co-workers gave me.  I thought a piece of chocolate sounded SO good, so I totally got on MFP and checked it out...not worth it.  Using flavor add-ins in my water, like Mio and the Great Value Crystal Light knock off  has helped me manage this.  (side note: the Great Value Peach Mango Energy is carb-free pretty tasty.  BUT the Strawberry Watermelon is OH MY STINKIN' HECK good, so naturally it has 1 carb.)

the offending bag of candy

If you are reading this, I want to thank you.  I get a lot of support and motivation from so many people- it surprises the heck out of me in the best way!  Thank you so much for all of your sweet texts, comments, and camaraderie.

A quote my girl Alicia pointed me to.

Gaining...Perspective?

I don't even know where to start.

I wouldn't say that I have given up entirely these last couple of months, because I have been totally conscious of my choices.  I have just consciously been making the wrong choices.

And it has definitely had a negative effect- on my waistline and a little bit on my self esteem.

I just get so worn out, you know?  I feel like it is has always been a struggle and it will always be a struggle and it makes me tired.  I have a lot on my plate...see what I did there? :)

So, I am trying something new this week.  Inspired by one of my favorite bloggers, Amber at Crafty Healthy Mommy, I am trying low carb.  I already know from experience that I am super sensitive to sugar and carbs.  Besides, low carb is bacon friendly. I will be posting weekly weigh-ins again.

My weight as of this morning was 224.2.

I'm not going to calculate how much I have gained- it's self-defeating and it doesn't really matter.  This is a fresh start.

I will also be doing Focus T25.  Given my school schedule and Andy's travel schedule, I may not be able to stick to the plan as hardcore as I would like.  But not doing it all isn't doing anything for me- so I am committing to giving myself a break and not giving up when I have a conflict.  I will be posting a weekly accountability post about what I am doing to get moving- whether it's T25 or chasing T through Target.
