It's been a good week, kids!

I had a post typed up with a recipe review and a new recipe, but then my phone died and I lost it. So I'll save that for next time.  On to the weigh in...

*insert drumroll*

Down 1.6 lbs!!! I'm excited to officially be under 220. My next mini goal is to get under 200.

Feeling Like I Got My Groove Back!

This has been a really good week so far!

I have stuck to my guns pretty darn well.  I have logged all calories.  I have done Days 1 and 2 of Couch to 5K on my elliptical.  I have meal-planned for the weekend ahead.  Most of all, I am excited about all of it again.

I don't know why I let myself get so slumpy.  Can I blame hormones or something else that way I don't have to take responsiblilty?

No?

Hhhhhhhhhh...fine.

I know I have mentioned Skinnytaste before. Her recipes are so fabulous and delicious.  I have made her Crock Pot Honey Sesame Chicken before, and it is seriously tasty.  This week, for my lunches, I made a recipe of this delightful chicken.  And then I stuffed it in an eggroll wrapper with green onions and fresh basil.  And then I baked them and served them with hoisin mixed with sriacha (the sauce recipe from Skinnytaste's Asian Chicken Lettuce Wraps).  And everyday I have looked forward to lunch!

Tomorrow I'll be checking in with my weight...

Meal Planning

If I don't meal plan, my week generally doesn't go the way I want it to.  I end up eating things I shouldn't, and the scale is usually not my friend.

I find that it makes my life easier if I eat the same thing for breakfast and lunch at least Monday - Thursday.  Typically, I am over whatever it is by Friday and I will have leftovers or grab a salad or a chicken sandwich or something I have been craving.  I usually don't plan for the weekends because it just isn't usually realistic for our little family.

I found this printable on Pinterest, and it came from The Project Girl.  She has lots of cute, free downloads!!

Notice how my sheet is folded up and wrinkly?  That is because I actually use it.  A meal plan does you no good if you leave your list at home when you go to the store.  I took it to the store with me and I have it at work with me today.  It will most likely end up on the fridge.  I would love to find a bound, purse-size friendly version where I can look back at previous weeks when I am stumped for ideas.  If you know of any- please let me know!

A Ridiculous Confession...

So, you know how you can have secret boards on Pinterest?

I had a secret "fitness" board.

I had this completely stupid notion that others would see me posting fitness stuff and judge me for my obvious lack of fitness.

I recently came to terms with this udder bologna of a problem, and made the board un-secret.  You can find it here.

Some random pins from my board:

I decided to start logging my calories again today.  I don't have a grand reason, I just feel like I should do it.  You can find me on Myfitnesspal using the screen name birdielosingit or using my email birdielosingit@gmail.com .

The Moment I've Been Dreading...

I feel like God gave me a free pass, y'all!

It still says 220. I am SO good with that. On the one hand, it means my progress has stalled. On the other, better, bling-encrusted and right hand- it means I have taken the giant step back that I expected.

I'll be spending some time this weekend planning my next move. Failing to prepare is preparing to fail.

Don't forget to check out my Miche party! https://dawnrowles.miche.com/Shop?partyId=209018

Have a great weekend!

Where to start...

I have been struggling lately.  To be totally honest, I am at the place where I would normally give up.

I lost my momentum.

I've eaten some bad stuff, I haven't worked out, and I feel like I have wasted time.  I also sometimes feel like I am basically chronicling my failures on this blog, which isn't very encouraging.  I have to continuously remind myself that it is okay to not be perfect.  It's okay to keep starting over- as long as I keep going.

For better or worse, I 'll be weighing in on Friday.

On a happier note, I made the cauliflower pizza again last week.  This time I followed the instructions and used parchment paper.  It was delicious!!  You can pick it up and eat it like a real pizza, which I didn't think was possible.  I'll be having it again tonight.

I have also tried the Asian Chicken Lettuce Wraps posted by Gina on Skinny Taste.  I used fish sauce instead of oyster sauce, and Tamari instead of dark soy sauce.  Delicious and incredibly easy.  You can find the recipe here.  Do not skip the dipping sauce- it makes the meal.

Have you tried any tasty, healthy recipes lately?  Any recommendations?

A Recipe...And a Confession

I feel like it is time to come clean.  I have completely failed at the Stink Eye Challenge this week.  I haven't worked out once, save mowing the yard.  My work schedule changed and I have been staying up too late.  Both excuses.  Neither is really a valid reason for not getting my ass up on time and working out.  You know what else isn't okay?  Deciding that since I have been honest about it, it's okay.  Complacency won't cut the mustard.  Or get me to my goals.

I'm STILL hovering just over 220- I need to conquer that beast and move on!

Another goal I have is to some day wear a bikini.  My body will never be perfect, and I am just fine with that.  I just want to be comfortable enough in my own skin to show it off.  I am a little embarrassed to admit that I have been watching Real Housewives this week...but I am dying over the bikini and sarong that Gretchen wore.  (I could not find a decent pic of it.)

Tuesday night I threw quick meal together that I thought was awesome!  I'm calling it Pizza Squash.  You need:

A Yellow Summer Squash
A Zuccinni Squash
1/2 of a Spaghetti Squash
3-5 Mushrooms
Turkey Pepperonni
Your favorite Spaghetti or Pizza sauce

Take your 1/2 spaghetti squash and put cut side down in a microwave friendly dish with about 1/2 C of water.  Microwave for 12 minutes.  Meanwhile, slice remaining squash and mushrooms.  Put in a skillet with a couple of table spoons of water on high.  Put a lid on it.  You are aiming for a kind of steamed-sautee if you will.  Stir occasionally until you reach desired doneness. Add between 1/2-1 C of Spaghetti sauce.  You want just enough to coat everything and bind it together.  Add pepperonni and heat everything through.  Scoop out spaghetti squash and serve sauce mixture on top.  I also microplaned some parmesan on top of mine.

It's the little things...

My hubs travels sometimes for work.  So, sometimes, I have to do things he would normally do.  Like mow the yard.  I think I have mowed our yard maybe twice in the 3 years we have had our house.  I distinctly remember not being able to mow our back yard once because the grass had grown too high and it slopes really badly.  It's basically a Die Hard-like cliff.  When I declared I would be mowing the yard yesterday, both Andy and my parents had similar reactions.

"Are you sure you want to do that?"
"What about seeing if Big A can do that for you?"
"How are you going to mow the backyard with your T-Rex arms?"

Now, I know that my family has great faith in me.  They were just concerned that I would chop off a foot or something.  And their concerns are valid- I have been known to be a little less than graceful.  And I may or may not have had previous accidents involving riding lawn mowers...

And yes, accidents and mowers are both plural.

I went into the situation with a little doubt of my own.  For one, I haven't mowed since I got pregnant with T.  I really do have T-Rex arms, and sometimes simple things like starting a lawn mower are difficult because I just don't have the wingspan.  I was a little afraid I would get the lawn mower out of the garage and not be able to start the thing.  And then there was the slope...

Anyway, I decided to start with the back since I knew that it would be the hardest.  When I was about half-way done, I had kind of a revelation:

The same self-doubt that was nagging me about not being able to mow the yard is the same self-doubt that nags me about not being able to lose weight.

Anything is possible- if you just keep going!

A Belated Weigh Day

My sweet little boo got very sick last week.  It started Wednesday, and he was finally himself yesterday (Sunday).
My little monster waiting at the doctor.

So this Mama took a back burner.

I weighed in this morning at 221.6.

A little bit of a gain, but I'm okay with it.  I honestly thought this would happen my first week of hitting the workouts hard anyway.

I also didn't get up and work out this morning (and I think I missed a workout last week).  Being sick has screwed up someone's sleeping schedule.  I haven't had a solid night's sleep since last Tuesday night.  I have to mow the yard today, so I am going to consider today my "rest day" per the Live Fit Revolution program and I will be back at it tomorrow.  I will be starting with Week 2, Day 1.

Booty Droppin'

I stayed up too late last night watching "The Golden Girls"...again.  Long story short, I woke up at 6.  At first, I kind of panicked about not having enough time to work out. I decided that I would make time.  I did all but the last three moves of  Week 1, Day 3 of  the Livefitrevolution.org program.  I was following the written outline, and I wasn't sure about proper form and didn't really have time to look into it. If I have time this evening, I will try to bust them out just so I can say I completed the workout. :)  I have on hardly any make-up and my hair is slicked back in pony tail, but I did it.

For Mother's Day, my boys bought me this little jewel:

I specifically wanted this so that I could clip it to my clothes when I work out.
For some reason, when I am jamming out, exercising doesn't seem so bad.  I may or may not add in some booty shakin'...
I named my workout playlist "Booty Droppin'" just so I could hear the robot-y voice of my shuffle say it.  It makes me happy every.single.time.

A Sample of my Booty Droppin' Playlist:
"S&M "- The version with Brittany and Rhiana
"Radioactive"- Imagine Dragons
"Sail"- Awolnation
"My Songs Know What You Did in the Dark"- Fall Out Boy
"Wild One"- Flo Rida
"Piece of Me"- Brittany
"Country Girl (Shake it for Me)"- Luke Bryan
"Circus"-Brittany

What are you favorite songs to bust a move to?  Any suggestions?

Stink Eye Challenge Check-In and a Recipe Review

So, when I signed myself for the torture that is getting up before 7 am, I totally forgot that I didn't have to work yesterday.  I thought, "No big deal!  I'll just get up at 5 anyway.  I can always go back to sleep."  WRONG.  My husband had to leave for work at 3, so that woke me up.  Then T woke up when he started his work truck.  So this mama was up from like 2:30 to 4:00.  I slept in until 8-ish and THEN I did my workout.

Truth be told: Had I not made a grand promise to myself via this blog, I would not have gotten up and worked out.

Yesterday, I did Week 1, Day 1 of the LiveFit Revolution program.  You need a kettlebell, but the program is totally free.  And the workouts are legit!  This morning, I did Week 1, Day 2.

I found this pizza recipe yesterday on Pinterest.  (Picture is from my Pin, not my own picture.)

First of all, when the recipe says to use parchment paper.  It means it.  I didn't have parchment, so I just used foil.  That probably would have been fine had I sprayed some cooking spray on it, but I didn't.  I think it goes without saying that my "pizza" didn't look quit like the picture.  Because of my sticking issues, I had to kind of scrape the pizza off the pan- so I had to eat it with a fork.  IT WAS DELICIOUS.  I will be making it again- maybe even again this week.  I did not miss the bread of actual pizza dough at all.  And best of all, it was toddler approved.  T loved it!
